Just something to consider. I live in Barrie after having lived in Toronto (North York) for over 30 years. Tried to visit my son over the holiday and found that I cannot park at all on the street where his (formerly mine) house is. Am a senior citizen with bad arthritis in the feet, but not bad enough to have a disabled permit (thank God), but the 2 block trek is very difficult, especially in the winter. This bike lane is on an entirely residential street. I think bike lanes are a great idea, but would have liked this one to have been set up with more consideration for homeowners. |

Hi Donna. That's a difficult situation, but seems like it might be easily solved by double parking on the side of the street where there is no bike lane? |

Hard to comment w/out knowing the specifics, and specifically more so because I live in NYC. Part of the reason I wanted to create these forums is so that cyclists from all over the world could learn how things are in other places. As to homeowners, do homes have driveways? Is their a perception that streets are public space or private property? Is there space for on street parking? |
