Some bike lanes here in Chicago suffer from fairly bad potholes and generally car-oriented maintenance; "this is no big deal for a car to drive over this series of holes and bumps..." Could we all use a site like www.thepoint.com to reach a tipping point to restore the bike lanes we do have? I've often thought about a particular stretch of Webster which I travel often -- I'm sure there are other, more heavily biked routes that suffer from poor maintenance and discourage / make more dangerous biking. I've thought about guerilla-style patching, in the middle of the night with fellow cyclists and a bucket of blacktop... What say you, friends? |
