Bike Lane Submissions
I just went in to powder my snout
Bleeker St. and the bowery, New york, NY
This empty cop car was parked in the oft-violated bleeker street bike lane. The previous week I sent an email to the DOT about the lack of enforcement of this very stretch of bike lane. I see the cops got the message
Delivery to The Haier Building On Broadway
Broadway at 36th St., New york, NY
36th St. and Broadway. New lines were just drawn along Broadway to provide a bike path and a pedestrian walk area. This truck drove for several blocks on the pedestrian path, carefully maneuvering around the orange pylons. The two delivery men eventually stopped to make a delivery in front of the Haier Building and ignored the parking spaces behind it, but in the middle of the street.

Small victory -- this driver drove off after he saw me take some pics and start to call 311.

As usual, 2nd Avenue is filled with cars in the bike lane.

This woman almost sideswiped me with her truck, and then stopped right in front of me, as if I wasn't there. Naturally, I slapped her truck to let her know I was there. She got out and yelled at me. I told her I only did so because she almost drove into me. "Good!", she yelled. I immediately got on the phone to call 311, and upon seeing this, she sped out of the bike lane and drove away, not before flipping me the bird.
I don't want to stereotype, but geez, these SUV drivers really do think that their vehicle IS them, and yet seemingly have no concern about the world outside their vehicle.
