Who Polices the Police?
32 union square east, New york, NY
You can see, through the windshield of the van in the back, that there's another police van parked in front of it & yet another police vehicle parked on the SIDEWALK in front of that.
Cop Car Parked in Bike Lane
79th and 1st, New york, NY
A cop car parked in the bike lane. Cops just standing there on the side of the street, while another illegally parked car in the bike lane was right in front of them.
New York Parking Police Car
Ave A and 11th st., New york, NY
New York Parking Police car blocking bike lane when there is huge available space right in front of the parked cars. She then gave a ticket to a guy who was buying a parking meter receipt to put on his car which is also illegal. This was right after she gave a ticket to a car which had a con-edison emergency placard in the window. She yelled at me for taking her picture, called me bad names and then took a picture of the car she thought was mine. Total abuse of power, she should be reprimanded by the NYPD at the least.
The NYPD is always above the law!
8th Ave. and 37th. St., New york, NY
Three police vans responding to a call park in the bike lane on 8th Ave between 36 & 37th Sts despite there being ample room for them to park.
NYPD Traffic on Bowery
Bowery and Canal, New york, NY
There was a cop directing traffic in the intersection and another in the van. As if there weren't enough obstacles on Bowery. Maybe at Canal, maybe Delancey.
Protected bike lane rendered useless
Kent Ave, Brooklyn, NY
Two sets of cop cars parked in the Kent Avenue Bike Lane. No lights flashing and no apparent emergency going on.
Protected bike lane rendered useless

Police cars parked in separated bike lane
Navy st and Sands St, Brooklyn, NY
so I was riding my bike to work yesterday morning and at just before ten was about to turn onto sands st from navy st approaching the bridge and saw these two cop cars parked in the bike lane right at the turn. it was especially awful (I mean, aside from the fact that they're theoretically supposed to be protecting us and not endangering our lives!) because the bike lane is separated above the street by about a foot. it's impossible to ride around the cars and re-enter the bike lane without completely dismounting your bike and pulling it up onto the bike lane. as you can imagine, this was pretty scary in traffic where all the cars behind me were turning and probably didn't have a great view of what I was doing because of the two godforsaken police cars blocking both my lane and their view.
NYPD School Safety
Stanton St and Suffolk St, New york, NY
Half in the bike lane, half on the sidewalk. Apparently “school safety” doesn't care about keeping people safe.
NYPD Emergency Beverage Stop
Flushing at Hall, New york, NY
Flushing and Hall (by the Navy Yard) - Brooklyn, NY - Friday September 3 approx 12:45 PM. This cop had to stop for a gatorade - in the bike lane. She also claimed that she was giving me a ticket for biking on the sidewalk, which I only did to get a quick photo of her from the back. Down with NYPD I say!!!
28th Precinct Uses Bike Lane as Parking Lot
123rd and st. nicholas, New york, NY
This isn't one or two cop cars responding to an incident. The bike lane is considered an extension of their parking lot. I believe we need to make it easier for cops to work in our city, but this can't be the way.

NYPD in 8th Ave Bike Lane
8th Ave and 20th St, New york, NY
Not only is the cruiser taking the bike lane, but the NYPD van is parked in the turning lane, behind and to the right of the cruiser, such that you need to ride fully into traffic to get around the vehicles. Oh, and there was plenty of space in the striped area 50 feet south.
Police car blocking bike lane for bag of chips!
8th Avenue, New york, NY
This car was parked in the bike lane with one police officer in the passenger seat. The other officer was inside Duane Reade buying something. They were definitely not pulled over for an emergency. Isn't it sad when the people who are supposed to keep us safe are also putting us in danger for a bag of chips!!
NYPD Traffic Van parked in E. Broadway bikelane
East Broadway and Market Street, New york, NY
The guy did run in quickly to grab a biscuit but that doesn't excuse that he's (1) a traffic van; and (2) had space to legally park.
The bikelane on this stretch of east broadway is useless b/c they're always blocked.
NYPD Traffic Van in bike lane over 1/2 hour
98 Suffolk St, New york, NY
I've seen them there before, on Suffolk near Delancey, and not that it's a particularly busy stretch of road for bikes or cars, it's a primary access point to the Williamsburg Bridge.
In this picture, you'll notice a guy with a kid tandem being trailed by another kid having to ride out into the street to go around the van.
